We have just been working on the website but it isn’t where it should be yet so please be patient. I am learning how to use Word Press and I am slowing getting there. Thank goodness for YouTube tutorials! I will try to put in a weekly blog of our progress as we built a sustainable farm in the mountains of Colorado. I grew up on a farm in Michigan which gave me a foundation and a love of gardening, but it did not prepare me for high altitude farming, arid conditions, and a short growing season. My middle son also inherited the farming gene so when he came to me asking if he could put a greenhouse on my 5 acre property, I enthusiastically agreed. Mountain Jay Farm was born. We spent last year leveling our spot, getting the green house erected (it is geothermic so digging and piping was involved in the process), and soil and compost brought it. We still need to get the plastic covering on and fans hooked up for the air flow.
“The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.” Alfred Austin
As we continue on I can share tips, successes and failures as we work towards going the nourishing, clean food we will so look forward to.
